Why this drill works

Ensures the shoulders turn on a tilted axis (steep) rather than turning flat. Also guarantees that the arms and torso move as a connected unit.

How to do it

  1. 1

    Place a lightweight stick (tour stick or alignment rod) across your chest, just above elbows and under the arms.

  2. 2

    Take the club away, ensuring the arms stay engaged with the body.

  3. 3

    Check that the stick tilts downwards on the target side (left side for righties).

  4. 4

    Ensure the lead arm works across the chest and pressure loads into the trail foot.
