Why this drill works

Lifting the heel breaks the habit of keeping weight on the front foot (reverse pivot). Planting the heel forcefully shifts the low point of the swing forward, ensuring cleaner contact.

How to do it

  1. 1

Backswing: Lift your lead heel (left heel for righties) about an inch off the ground. This guarantees weight shifts to the trail side.

  2. 2

Transition: Aggressively press/plant that lead heel firmly back into the ground to initiate the downswing.

  3. 3

Teeter-Totter Analogy: Visualize a teeter-totter going right (heel up) then slamming left (heel down).

  4. 4

Tip: You can perform this on a Pressure Plate (https://amzn.to/3KeKXTf) to get verification that your pressure has shifted fully.
