Why This Drill Works (Kinetic Mechanics)

Spinning the pelvis and torso open indefinitely delays clubhead release, leaving the face open to the path. Pigeon-toeing the lead foot creates a physical braking action that decelerates pelvic rotation into impact, transferring energy into rapid angular release of the clubhead.

How to Perform the Drill

Follow these step-by-step instructions. Rehearse slowly to build proper motor patterns before adding full swing speed.

    Step 1

    Setup: Turn your lead foot slightly inward (pigeon-toed) and pull your trail foot back slightly (8:20 - 12:26). Note: Use caution and take smooth swings to avoid knee and hip strain.

    Step 2

    The Goal: The flared-in lead foot creates a physical 'wall' or brake that prevents you from spinning your body through the shot indefinitely.

    Execution: By forcing a stop/brake in your lead hip and knee, you learn to shift from linear acceleration to angular release, allowing the clubhead to release and square up more effectively.

Common Mistake to Avoid

Rushing transition before completing backswing or lunging upper body forward towards ball at impact. Keep movement controlled.
