Why This Drill Works (Kinetic Mechanics)

Trains the proper kinematic sequence (Lower Body leads). Initiating the downswing with the hips while the club is still loading creates dynamic lag and prevents the upper body from dominating (casting).

How to Perform the Drill

Follow these step-by-step instructions. Rehearse slowly to build proper motor patterns before adding full swing speed.

  1. 1

    Step 1

Swing back to P3 (Lead arm parallel to ground).

  2. 2

    Step 2

Immediately change direction by bumping the lower body towards the target.

  3. 3

    Step 3

Feel the lag increase as the lower body goes forward while the club is still finishing the backswing.

  4. 4

    Step 4

    Swing through to finish.

What Good Feels Like

Focus on smooth tempo and maintaining body connection through impact. Your body and club should move as a single synchronized unit.

Common Mistake to Avoid

Rushing transition before completing backswing or lunging upper body forward towards ball at impact. Keep movement controlled.
