How to Stay In Posture | The Wall Drill
Drill by Clay Ballard

Why this drill works
This version of the wall drill uses the wall as a light positional reference rather than something to press into, training the golfer to rotate and stay tall in posture through the swing instead of rounding the upper back or standing up out of the spine angle set at address.
How to do it
- 1
Set up in your golf posture with your rear end lightly touching a wall behind you, then choke down slightly and step forward so the hips are just off the wall.
- 2
Make backswings and downswings, feeling the lower body settle and rotate back toward the wall rather than standing up or rounding forward.
- 3
Let the arms and club work in front of the body while the torso stays tall instead of hunching, using the wall only as a light touch reference.
- 4
Check that through the swing it is the lead side and glute area interacting with the wall rather than the golfer collapsing forward out of posture.
