Why this drill works

Forces the trail shoulder into a retracted position before the full turn, ensuring the width and connection are established. This prevents the arm from collapsing and promotes a full rib cage and shoulder turn, which improves the overall structure of the backswing.

How to do it

  1. 1

With your trail arm, keep it straight and pull it back into the socket (retraction).

  2. 2

    Bend your arm 90 degrees.

  3. 3

Make your full body turn (4:00-4:28).

  4. 4

Check: The shoulder should be positioned further behind your head with a straight trail arm, leading to a straighter lead arm and a full rib cage and shoulder turn.
