Why This Drill Works (Kinetic Mechanics)

Placing the lead thumb against the trail palm's lifeline creates a direct tactile pressure point. Pushing against that point in the downswing while keeping the trail elbow tucked forces lead forearm supination, squaring the face and curing weak slice contact.

How to Perform the Drill

Follow these step-by-step instructions. Rehearse slowly to build proper motor patterns before adding full swing speed.

    Step 1

    Setup: Create a 'butterfly' hand connection by placing your lead thumb against the lifeline and heel pad of your trail hand (2:34 - 8:19).

    Step 2

    The Feel: During a short half-swing (about 80 yards with a 7-iron), ensure your trail elbow stays tucked under the lead side.

    Step 3

    Execution: As you swing down, feel your trail arm push against the pressure point on your lead thumb.

    Result: This motion forces proper lead forearm supination (turning over), squaring the clubface naturally through impact to produce a solid push-draw.

Focus on smooth tempo and maintaining body connection through impact. Your body and club should move as a single synchronized unit.

Rushing transition before completing backswing or lunging upper body forward towards ball at impact. Keep movement controlled.
