Why this drill works

Trains the body to rotate through the shot rather than stalling, which is required to maintain shaft lean. This feel promotes the hands leading the clubhead and prevents the flip at impact by forcing the hips to clear space.

How to do it

  1. 1

Set up in your ideal impact position with forward shaft lean.

  2. 2

Rotate your body, keeping your hands connected to your chest.

  3. 3

Focus on your left pocket moving back and your right hip staying back.

  4. 4

Ensure the clubface is de-lofted and your lead hand knuckles are pointing down.

  5. 5

Rotate back to the starting impact position, maintaining extension through the golf ball.
