Why This Drill Works (Kinetic Mechanics)

Delofts the clubhead at impact while controlling spin loft, producing a low-launching, high-spinning flight ideal into wind.

How to Perform the Drill

Follow these step-by-step instructions. Rehearse slowly to build proper motor patterns before adding full swing speed.

  1. 1

    Step 1

Position the ball one ball-width back of centre in setup with 60% pressure on the lead foot.

  2. 2

    Step 2

Maintain lead wrist flexion into impact to deloft the wedge face.

  3. 3

    Step 3

    Finish with a low, chest-down three-quarter follow-through.

  4. 4

    Step 4

Check that the finish hands stay below chest height to prevent ballooning flight.

What Good Feels Like

Focus on smooth tempo and maintaining body connection through impact. Your body and club should move as a single synchronized unit.

Common Mistake to Avoid

Rushing transition before completing backswing or lunging upper body forward towards ball at impact. Keep movement controlled.
