Light-to-Heavy Overspeed Training Protocol
Curated PGA Drill by SuperSpeed Golf
Full Swing
3 sets of 10 slow rehearsal reps
Golf club, alignment stick (optional)
Intermediate
Why This Drill Works (Kinetic Mechanics)
Overspeed training rewires central nervous system speed limits by forcing fast twitch muscle recruitment beyond normal swing speeds.
How to Perform the Drill
Follow these step-by-step instructions. Rehearse slowly to build proper motor patterns before adding full swing speed.
- 1
Step 1
Warm up thoroughly with dynamic mobility exercises.
- 2
Step 2
Make 3 max-speed swings with light shaft/alignment stick, focusing on whoosh sound past impact.
- 3
Step 3
Make 3 max-speed swings with medium weight stick.
- 4
Step 4
Make 3 max-speed swings with heavy stick, then return to light stick for 3 final reps.
- 5
Step 5
Rest 60 seconds between sets to maintain neurological firing threshold.
What Good Feels Like
Focus on smooth tempo and maintaining body connection through impact. Your body and club should move as a single synchronized unit.
Common Mistake to Avoid
Rushing transition before completing backswing or lunging upper body forward towards ball at impact. Keep movement controlled.
