Why This Drill Works (Kinetic Mechanics)

Standardizes swing length to create repeatable yardage gaps, eliminating guesswork on wedge partial shots.

How to Perform the Drill

Follow these step-by-step instructions. Rehearse slowly to build proper motor patterns before adding full swing speed.

  1. 1

    Step 1

    Establish 3 arm positions: 9 o'clock (lead arm parallel), 10 o'clock (3/4), full.

  2. 2

    Step 2

Hit 5 balls at each arm position with pitching wedge, gap wedge, and sand wedge.

  3. 3

    Step 3

Record average carry distance for each matrix combination.

  4. 4

    Step 4

Use fixed arm height rather than hand speed to control stock distances.

What Good Feels Like

Focus on smooth tempo and maintaining body connection through impact. Your body and club should move as a single synchronized unit.

Common Mistake to Avoid

Rushing transition before completing backswing or lunging upper body forward towards ball at impact. Keep movement controlled.
