Why This Drill Works (Kinetic Mechanics)
Prevents over-tension in forearms and wrist locking, allowing free face release without manual manipulation.
How to Perform the Drill
Follow these step-by-step instructions. Rehearse slowly to build proper motor patterns before adding full swing speed.
- 1
Step 1
Form grip in mid-air with lead hand V pointing to trail shoulder.
- 2
Step 2
Place trail hand so thumb cushion covers lead thumb completely.
- 3
Step 3
Maintain grip pressure at a consistent 4 out of 10 throughout swing.
- 4
Step 4
Check that grip pressure does not spike at top of backswing or transition.
What Good Feels Like
Focus on smooth tempo and maintaining body connection through impact. Your body and club should move as a single synchronized unit.
Common Mistake to Avoid
Rushing transition before completing backswing or lunging upper body forward towards ball at impact. Keep movement controlled.
