Why this drill works

A weak grip often forces the golfer to either leave the face open or throw the club late to square it. Strengthening the hand placement modestly lets the face return more predictably and reduces the need for impact manipulation.

How to do it

  1. 1

Hold the club in front of the chest and rotate the lead hand until two to three knuckles are visible.

  2. 2

Place the trail hand so both hand 'Vs' point in the same general direction, toward the trail shoulder.

  3. 3

Make waist-high rehearsal swings feeling the clubface square without needing a last-second flip.

  4. 4

Hit soft punch shots first so the new grip can be matched to face control before full swings.

  5. 5

Reset the grip before every shot rather than trusting what feels natural at first.
